April 11, 2025 at 5:48 pmGrowing up I was always been a confident kid. As a teenager idk what I want to pursue. So my father introduced me to CLAT because I was confused what I want to do. So I join coaching and it was fun the journey knowing about new things i actually liked it. Then I got into nlu. The journey was a rollercoaster from the day one I have decided to give judiciary which was a mistake I guess. So my college journey was not that good, i was not doing well in my acads and not join any committees or given moots. But yeah I used to write articles and all. Also I have not given any campus interviews which was a big mistake. After my college got over i went home. I used to get anxious so applied many places got a job but so dumb of me to decline after getting selected but yeah it was like a internship of 6 months and give a year to prep for judiciary and various exams. I was not able to crack any of them. And, i know for the fact that i don’t want to do litigation. And then I have heard from my friends about law firm culture then i get scared to apply that what if my seniors are fucked up and there is not working life balance or I am not earning enough to survive. I don’t wanna ask my parents to give money when I joined any law firm. I am so scared I have applied so many places not getting any replies. Idk what to do.

April 11, 2025 at 7:44 pmThere was probably no one to guide you at all, so you just blindly followed what you thought was right. And honestly, there is no need to beat yourself up for it. It’s never too late, so may be this is the right time to understand what you wish to pursue in law, and move towards it. I’m a lawyer as well, so please feel free to connect for any guidance that you may feel you require at any point of time. Will surely try my best to help too. Thanks. -

April 12, 2025 at 4:40 pmWe need to simplify things. You’ve made a few mistakes, sure, but you’re still young, and there’s plenty of time to fix it. So, here’s the honest truth:First, your decision to go for the judiciary – yeah, maybe it wasn’t the right one for you, but you did it because you were confused. That’s okay. Everyone goes through that phase. You’re not the only one who doesn’t have everything figured out. The fact that you didn’t do great in college or join committees, moots, etc., doesn’t mean you’re done for. A lot of people are in the same boat, struggling to figure out what they want to do with their life. So don’t beat yourself up about it.
But here’s where the problem lies: you had an opportunity to join a job, but you chickened out. You were scared. That’s the thing with fear – it stops you from doing anything. Now, you’ve got this law firm thing in your head, and you’re scared again. What if your seniors are terrible? What if the work-life balance sucks? What if you don’t earn enough? These are all valid concerns, but they’re not reasons to avoid the whole thing.
The truth is, the world is messy. There’s no perfect job. Law firms have their own set of problems, sure, but there’s also growth. And no, you don’t need to rely on your parents forever. You need to stop thinking about “what ifs” and start looking at “what’s possible.”
The law firm culture thing – well, that depends on where you land. Some are terrible, some are decent, and some are pretty good. You just need to find one that’s right for you. Don’t go in thinking all of them are nightmares. Look for places that align with your goals, and if they don’t work out, then you move on.
As for the job search – you’ve applied to many places and haven’t heard back. This is the reality of job hunting. It’s tough, and it takes time. But it’s a numbers game. Keep applying. And this time, don’t bail on an offer just because you’re scared. You’ll figure things out as you go. Everyone does.
In short, stop wasting time being scared. Start applying to law firms and other places. Don’t be afraid to get your hands dirty. Nothing’s going to happen if you just sit around and keep worrying. You’ll get there, but only if you put in the work. Don’t expect everything to be perfect, just make sure you’re moving forward.
And if you need someone to talk to, do it. Don’t sit in your head. It’ll drive you crazy.
Move, apply, learn, and grow. Simple as that.
