        Hi guys,

I hope you all are doing well.

I really need advice at this point whether I should abscond my current company or buyout my notice period. So my mother and father both are not doing well health-wise. My father is a cancer survivor and he is again showing some symptoms of it, my mother and father both run a vegetable shop and we do some farming too. Due to my parents health condition I was looking for a remote opportunity and I got one with 120% hike from the current pay package. But they want me to join within 1 month or else they’ll cancel the offer, and seriously want to exit I have had enough. I tried explaining my situation to my manager and HR both and my manager is understanding the situation and helping me but he says he doesn’t have the authority to approve it, I spoke to my HR too and she said if we find a replacement we can release you early or else you have to serve 3 months notice period but they are not taking this as a serious concern and have not started any hiring process yet, and my joining date in the new company is 19th may. I am managing my whole department on my own. They fired everybody offshore due to financial constraints and are dependent on me. I am still a fresher with only 1.5 years of experience, this is the company where I started my career but now I feel my growth is stagnant because I don’t have any mentor or senior at this point.
Moreover I don’t have a PF account and don’t get any tax deduction.
Will absconding affect my career in any way in the future?
BTW my new company is US based firm and I am getting paid in USD.

Don’t abscond. It will always come back to haunt you in the future . You will get another job . Don’t worry . Be clean with the records and have a peace of mind with bgv .

I have asked for a buyout notice period as mentioned in my contract but they didn’t respond to the email.

Hope you have resigned . Speak to the other company and give them iron clad guaranty that you would join after your notice period , elaborating the need of remote work . In your current company try a middle ground , maybe 15 days early or a month . As others said , don’t abscond .

Yes I have resigned and it’s been a month now but as I said above they still have not taken it as a serious concern and have not started any hiring process.

The worst that can happen is they will not give a relieving letter and you cannot claim this 1.5 years experience ever in your career. You will have to explain this as aΒ  break to your future employers.Β
Think if it is worth it and take a decision on absconding.

The company can send a legal notice, but most of them for not pursue it.Β
Be sure to handover any assets like laptop before you leave.Β

Fortunately you don’t have epf, that causes too much complications if you abscondΒ

If you can’t work for the notice period and are sure that they will not leave u go without it then simply threaten HR saying u will self harm if they don’t give it in 99% of cases HR let’s u go immediately for optics and avoiding legal trouble and bad PR. This is a bit drastic so exhaust all other options before trying.
