March 28, 2025 at 7:40 amI recently had a nightmarish experience with Air India and I’m wondering if I should push for more compensation. Here’s what happened:I booked a flight from Hyderabad (HYD) to Male (MLE) via Mumbai (BOM) for March 22, 2025. My HYD-BOM flight was delayed by about 2 hours, causing me to miss my connecting flight to MLE, both operated by Air India.
After a lot of back-and-forth, Air India offered me an alternate flight for the next day. But when I went to check in on March 23rd, I was told the flight was full. They suggested I wait for another flight on March 24th, which was out of the question for me. Frustrated, I accepted a small refund and booked a flight with Indigo, cutting my 5-day trip down to 3 days.
I filed a complaint in AirSewa, and I received a response from Air India apologizing for the inconvenience. They’ve offered a full refund for the BOM-MLE leg and an INR 10,000 voucher.
Given the significant disruption and stress this caused, do you think I should push for more compensation? Has anyone else faced similar issues with Air India? I’d appreciate your thoughts and advice!
