tldr: Ordered a charger worth rs2056 online, it took 8 days to be delivered, turned out to be defective, took 10 days for it to return to origin, was straight up denied any compensation for all of this, haven’t even been refunded yet.

I ordered a laptop charger (for rs. 2056) from tpstech .in on 25th Jan. When I entered my pincode, website said my order should arrive by 29th, and their shipping policy ensures 3-5 days for delivery to most pincodes. But it arrived on 3rd Feb, the package seal was kind of loose the charger had something written in a corner with a marker on it. It didnt even have a physical invoice or warranty card with it. On top of that after a few days it started showing defects. So I requested a return on 9th Feb and they just had to choose shiprocket/xpressbees for RTO for whatever reason (for delivery they picked amazon shipping who were very competent), who picked up the package on 11th Feb and finally returned it today (21st Feb).

Now I am not sure how long it will take for the refund. I sent them many emails asking them to expedite my refund but they were just ignored. Today I called them and they denied any compensation for the entire fiasco, though it was just their L1 customer care. I had filed a consumer grievance on NCH on 13th Feb, and it was forwarded to tpstech but I am assuming they just ignored it.

So thats the gist of the situation. Now I am just a broke student about to graduate, I took a peek at e daakhil and the process seemed a bit daunting and government institutes have a pretty bad rep for being slow. So should I bother filing a consumer complaint, will it be worth the trouble or should I just take the L and move on.

ADVOCATE HERE. I believe your concerns are for A. Possibly a second hand product delivered. B. Delayed recovery of product. C. Delayed refund. D. Denial of compensation.

In my fair opinion, there are better things to do in life, just keep this aside and move on. HOWEVER, if you desire to know legal aspects, well, delivery of second hand product is indeed a cause of concern, you can file consumer case for it. All others are not exactly grievances in law, they are part and parcel of supply chain. Coming to compensation, no seller/reseller offers compensation unless you file consumer complaint.

Lastly, if you intend to pursue this, I would recommend that you reach out to a brother-like advocate of yours, get guidance, and handle the matter by yourself, because any regular advocate would charge well above 2K. My best wishes.

I am afraid I personally don’t have any brother-like advocate ๐Ÿ˜… , maybe my parents do but I don’t think they would pursue this oh well

One hack would be, to determine if you are eligible or not (on basis of personal information like gender, income, caste etc.), you may approach local DLSA for a government sponsored advocate. However, their promptness in drafting, filing, appearing before Courts etc is something specific to the person so appointed for you.
