January 10, 2025 at 10:22 pmHello, Iโm from Germany, and my wife is from India. We wish to marry under the Special Marriage Act. Is it valid if she submits the notice in person while I provide a notarized affidavit for my consent, while not being in India? On the date of marriage I will be physically there. The court accepted it, but Iโm worried about the embassy telling me that my marriage might be not legal. -

January 10, 2025 at 11:04 pmI guess to make the registration in Germany later easier? The process is fairly simple in India as well -

January 10, 2025 at 11:00 pmNAL but my sis is and I have some understanding from studying with her. I’ll ask her to comment if possible. The court accepted the notice? The Indian embassy doesn’t go against courts. You’ll get a marriage certificate when you get married. You might need noc from Germany that they have no issues with you marrying. Once you have the marriage certificate in India, you can have it registered in Germany too. I’m not sure about the process there
Congratulations on the marriage ๐

January 11, 2025 at 2:20 amThank you ๐ yes the court accepted it, and they required an NOC too which I provided we are just waiting for the date now. The court officer wanted me to be there personally tho, after paying a bribe he was okay with signing it from Germany and sending it per post.
