Society chairman charging exter 1k in maintenance as service charges. What can I do?

So we have a 2bhk house with 6 adults and 2 children and society have been charging exter 1k as according to them so many people are not allowed to stay in a 2bhk house. They also withhold the maintenance bill which was generated on 10th of feb with due date of 28 and gave us the bill on 24th i.e today. What are my options?

this is weird, never heard of any such rule. ask him to provide copy of the such rule if it is in existance. also take proper receipt of all payments and save them in a folder. (better to do them via gpay)

if he doest revert, write a letter to the Managing Comitte and ask for the explanation of the rule.

pay the bill given and do the rest of sending letter . ask him to adjust if it in unfair.

Maybe they have tanker water or something and obviously consumption would be high. Not ethical though.

Maintenance covers security, sweeper and maybe garbage charges . More people will put load only on garbage so not sure if it is good to charge for more people.

Societies can be ass sometimes . We have one and they charge extra for 2 nd car . Whereas society s most parking is empty and we cannot do any function in our house as it disturbs the atmosphere .

our water charges are seperate as we have dedicated connection from Water works. if those are clubbed by society, then yes those suckers can complain about excess usage.

Update: For the last 10 days my mother has been requesting for the maintenance bill and every time they were saying that the bill is not generated for us but the whole society has received theirs. Prior to this my mom had a small argument with the chairman regarding the shoe box and there were 2 pairs of shoes outside our house which he didn’t like and passed a few comments regarding the same.

Technically there is no rule how many people can stay in a 2BHK. If there is a club house facility, they can restrict the number of passes that can be issued. In our society, 2BHK flat gets 4 passes and 3BHK gets 6 passes for club house.

Ask for the bylaws under which additional maintenance is being charged from you. A legal notice will get the chairman to fall in line.
