February 25, 2025 at 7:51 amMy father passed away on 9-February due to cardiac arrest and I came from USA with little to no knowledge of the loans, borrowing, lending, chits, original property papers that my dad has. I want advice on the first things to do (& how) , so that I can claim all the insurances that my dad has (in Telangana), which will help me payback loans and money borrowed by my father etc.,If someone has any idea how or where to start working on this stuff, please do advice.

February 25, 2025 at 7:57 amI don’t think you have any liability to pay for your father’s debts but still not a lawyer-

February 25, 2025 at 9:21 amLaw student here, I am not sure but as far as I remember, a person is not personally liable for the debt of the parents but liability will arise only for that part of property or assets which will be inherited by that person.-

February 28, 2025 at 9:02 amHow did you know your father had insurance?
A person who is v close to your father would be knowing if at all he has left a will.
Because will need to be attested by 2 ppl other than your father.
Upon the death and all the ceremonies completed they may come forward and let you know.. or you need to check all the entire house and bank lockers etc
