A bunch of goons claiming to be SBI Officials rocked up at my maternal uncle’s home, demanding to see him immediately. However, he is in UAE on account of work (he has an import-export business) and has been there for a while. They started threatening to arrest him and me as well, until I asked them why and for more details on the case. They refused to give me specifics. I told them he is not in the city right now, and couldn’t reach his phone number either. I have his Emirati number but refused to give it to them. What are the legal remedies he has here? His only dealings with SBI officials were with regards to an IRCTC Credit Card he has until 2-3 months ago, as far as I know.

Banks have recovery agents who indulge in this nuisance which is illegal. However, this appears to be some scam.

Banks do not have the authority to arrest anyone. Even if your uncle has done something criminal in nature, the banks would need to follow due process and then have the police arrest him (or you).

Next time something like this happens, threaten to call or actually call the police.

It will take time for them to respond usually depends on the state,
in my state I get response ideally 20-25 days.

The CC company will also have to reply and most definitely they will disassociate from the people claiming that they are not employees or associated with CC company.
You will have to draft a reply stating that no other person unless associated with CC company would waste their time to recover the debt.

*Open the website on Google chroke on PC, other browers won’t work and No mobile or tablet
* Upload file,proof, video, evidences etc and paste the it notepad/ word and upload the document with link in it.
best to make PDF of it with clicable link
* As it has file and file support restriction.
