January 22, 2025 at 2:21 amIn writing on behalf of my friend residing in Bangalore, Karnataka. He met a woman on a dating app and started a live-in relationship. Both him and the woman have been married once in the past and divorced. The woman has a nine year old kid from the first marriage. They have had numerous fights and βalmost breakupsβ in these 4 years but the woman has always threatened and blackmailed my friend onto staying in the relationship. She has found various reasons for not getting married but wants to continue living together. She quit her job and stays at home. Obsessed over my friend, she has mentally tortured my friend by blaming him for talking to woman other than her and even engaging with his own family. Now there is another huge fight and my friend is determined to breakup so he returned to Chennai to his parents. She has made a video call threatening to attempt suicide so he has rushed to Bangalore with his parents. Friendβs parents plan to meet with the girl s parents to come to a mutual separation agreement but my friend fears any retaliation from her given how unstable she is. She has been refusing any kind of therapy or counseling. What if they agree to separate now and the girl leaves a suicide note citing false allegations based on their live in relationship? How can my friend safely come out of this mess? Should we approach the police now? -

January 22, 2025 at 4:10 amIf you have proof that she is blackmailing him with suicide threats then you should go to police. If not get those proofs first.Btw courts treat live in relationships as marriages mostly so your friend may face some added trouble. But nonetheless you need to go to police. Otherwise you never know what she may do next. False case, or whatever. And then there’s no way out.

January 22, 2025 at 8:37 amWhere was the kid living during all this chaos? With the father or with this Live-In couple ?-

January 22, 2025 at 3:04 pmWith the live in couple. The kid is extremely attached to my friend and thats a reason why my friend is stuck to this relationship. He thinks if in case of a breakup, she wont let him be in touch with the kid.
