PNAL
1. Get a lawyer
2. Write a letter (complaint) against the local police to the DSP & commissioner.
3. File a case with the local court stating that even after multiple intimations, no FIR was registered. The court will summon the officials to start investigation on priority.
4. Gather all evidence for the claims and submit a separate case for assault, planned murder, threat to kill, harassment against the accused.
5. Request for a fast track, because it’s a women’s safety case the court may work on this on priority. Police may ask for 15 days for 1st draft, 1 month for further investigation.Case may go on for less than a year because the victims get justice if all evidences are provided, no hearsay.

BIl tell you what happens when you follow the right process. If the accused is about to get arrested he’ll join BJP and try to get rid of this case (its real life incident) and Even if the accused gets arrested he won’t spend a day in jail and he’ll be out on bail.

SIn another group i read a news about fathers raping their daughters in a country and sharing the video.
It was a sick crime but not one person there sounded hopeless about their country as a whole.
Do we Indians really don’t know how to process a shocking and sad incident.
I notice that reactions like ” india is bad, nothing can be done” is always the default response from most of the people.
While it could give instant relief but it actually shows that we are not emotionally stable.

I am tempted to respond to the naysayers to stop wasting my time because I’m checking every comment, trying to connect with legalaid organisations or someone willing to help. Venting has it’s place but this doomerism is frankly more exhausting than the problems we face as a people.
Which is why I have respect for subs like r/transitindia , r/CivicChangemakers (pretty new as far as I know) etc because they spend time educating themselves and doing something. Anything.
It seems like many folks find a strange comfort in their helplessness because it means they never have to try to change things. And it exists fucking everywhere. Nothing more than annoying flies in the face of people trying to help.
Anyway, I’m going to email the material I have to the UP DSP and legal aid organisations I can find. Let’s hope something comes of it.

2. Use the money that you’d normally have spent on hiring lawyer and other fees to bribe the officials and Expediting the process.

HThere is a big detail that ppl forget about police work. If a case goes to court, not only the victim but also the police staff who did the initial paperwork and legwork have to go to different courts for years if not for decades. That is the work they try their best to avoid. Unless there is pressure fr higher ups, they’ll try to make sure that they don’t have to do this work. Usually bribes are not as great an incentive as the leisure time. Kaamchors. And let’s not mention that the f**kingly slow f**king justice system
