April 8, 2025 at 7:54 amI’m currently a 2nd year college student and I have no surname in my legal documents or in any records in my previous schools.
I know the procedure of adding a surname and updating most of my documents.
The problem comes with my CBSE certificates for 10th and 12th grade. From their rules, I cannot add a surname more than a year after the document was issued which was 2023.Is there still some way I can update these certificates when I change my name or I will always have to carry the affidavit, gazette and the newspaper publication with me wherever these certificates are required (although I doubt it will be needed a lot)

April 8, 2025 at 8:06 amOh thanks a lot. I think they haven’t updated the rules on their website yet.
This would mean that I can update my 12th certificate but probably not my 10th certificate, which I think should suffice most cases.
