April 17, 2025 at 9:56 pmHi Reddit. Writing this at 3:18 am. I live in Dehradun, previously known for peace and serenity, and now for endless construction and dust.Next to the building in which I live, is an upcoming residential building for which construction has been ongoing for a while now.
They start work early in the morning which is really noisy, and continue till late at night, in the AM.
Today I got tired of it all and called the police numerous times and barely got a reasonable response. Only once did I receive a callback after my entire family called at least 5 times at 112 and 100 because we literally could not sleep due to how loud it was. The one time where I did receive a callback, the policeman said that he would look into the matter. This was around 12 am.
I did see him enter the construction siteโs premises with one more policeman and they got into a conversation for a solid half hour. And then they left.
And still, nothing happened. 1 am and the noise didnโt stop.
I called that policeman again. I asked him what happened and he said โHum mauke par hain, aur ye theek hojayegaโ.
Itโs now 3:24 am. The noise is unbearable at 65 decibels.
I recently moved to India from abroad and I really looked forward to it. But I guess India will always be like the incompetent, 3rd world shithole global media portrays it as.
What to do?
