February 3, 2025 at 11:39 amSo I’m studying BDS from a reputed private university in the NCR region.First year, my attendance was short so I got a back of three months- as a result instead of giving finals in august I gave them in December
Mind you we were not given info about this rule as it was implemented with our batch, before us the students only attended extra class of subjects in which they had short attendance so I was under the impression that i can sacrifice on one subject to focus on others- overnight rules changed and I got a 3 month back.. ok no problem
In those three months of detention I missed the initial three months of second year and joined in January whereas session started for normal students in September.
Ok no worries, I thought it was just a one year thing then university informs us that this is every year and we are in the “irregular batch” I was shocked but ok it’s just three months.Again attendance falls short due to personal reason, I give medical certificates my father meets principal and all and he says the best he can do is have me repeat the year.. which means that I sit with my juniors of regular batch.. (please tell me if this is what you all deduce by the wording because I feel like an idiot now)
Turns out, they take out list for new session and I have been moved to December exam batch of the year below me.. so instead of graduating in august 2027 I got pushed to December 2028.. which is nonsense.
My attendance was not that short that I receive such a harsh punishment and on asking, they refuse to disclose attendance percentage. I was okay with repeating the year i.e sitting for finals in Augusts but they have not done that.
Upon arguing they say these are rules new rules etc etc.. they keep coming up with these rules that they don’t disclose and expect us to know.
According to a document they released-
If a students attendance is below 75% but above 50% they will be given a 3 month period to catch upIf a student’s attendance is below 50% it’s an year back
But they did not use clear language.
Getting a 3 month back in first year implies I had attendance between 75-50 but caught up and that’s that.
In the second year of my attendance was between 75-50 I should have got another 3 months which would make it that I give final exams in MARCH
And if it’s below 50 that’s a year back letting me give exams in AUGUST, no where was it specified that I’d get screwed over so bad. Please help

February 3, 2025 at 12:22 pmit is common knowledge that if you have attendance below 75% you need to sit for supple. professors in all colleges even fucking AYUSH ones insist on it.you heard about the letting people go by attending extra classes from your seniors right? but that is not the case anymore at all. standards have changed. students are being detained for short attendance and marks for quite a few years across india now.
did you pass the supple? your post isnt clear at all
what was your “personal reason” for short attendance in second year? a person would’ve expected you to have learnt a lesson….
it is not worth pursuing a case. be smarter next time.
that private college has much better lawyers than you can get and even then you dont really have much of a case to begin with-
