        Dear Legal Advice India Team,

My friend usually takes a walk in the public park after returning from the library and dinner, typically from 10:00 pm to 10:35 pm, to refresh his mind. However, last night he witnessed a disturbing incident. Two police constables and a head constable were seen beating two individuals for drinking and smoking in the park. Shortly after, they approached a couple, harassing them and even calling their parents. While my friend was making his rounds, he observed the entire episode unfold.

During his walk, a policeman stopped him and asked which college he attends and what he was doing in his life. (Notably, he has qualified for the UPSC 2023 and 2024 prelims and was preparing for the mains exam this year.) He answered, explaining his studies and UPSC preparation, but the officers then began asking him further questions, such as when Akbar was born and how many subjects there are in the mains exam along with their respective marks. Being a very shy and introverted person who spends most of his time studying and is well-read, he became frightened and couldnโ€™t respond properly. The presence of three men wielding sticks, seemingly ready to strike, only heightened his fear. They escorted him out of the park and humiliated him by telling him never to return in front of the public, arrogantly proclaiming themselves the kings of the area, among other disparaging remarks. Although they did not physically harm him, the experience left him deeply embarrassed.

Our original plan for that evening was to discuss the book *Nexus* by Yuval Noah Harari, which we had both recently read. Although I was not present, the incident has greatly affected him. While I initially considered letting it go, I now wonder what possible actions could be taken in response to this abuse of power.

Thank you for your time and assistance!!

Nothing surprising here. I just avoid public places or any confrontation with anyone while in India.
