[Urgent] Got scammed for cheap flight tickets

Hello greetings,

I am from MP, but I stay in bengalore, KA. I recently connected with someone in bengalore who claimed to work at IndiGo and said they could get a 30% employee discount on flights. He even showed me his IndiGo employee login and all. I paid for a flight from BLR to DEL on Air India. However, the PNR he gave me doesn’t show up online or with Air India customer care. I’m almost certain I’ve been scammed.

Then I called him many times, finally he said he cancelled the ticket coz of some bs reason and he’ll give me the refund and he blocked me, since then I’ve called him from so many different he just blocks the number.

I believe I can get his adhar from Hosteller (where I met him), but I don’t if that’s even forged. I’d like to send him a legal notice but then the amount I paid is 5k, I don’t know what are my options. Please any suggestions.

NAL, How would an Indigo employee get SLT on Air India? That should have been the first red flag. Also SLT vouchers are non-transferable, you have to be related to the employee and be able to prove it with ID when you’re checking in.

I’m sorry this happened to you, perhaps there are some kind souls in the sub who would be willing to send a legal notice pro-bono.

Regarding 1st sentence, Airline employees do have option to get highly discounted(sometimes even 98%) tickets for other airlines.

Apart from this, yes I agree that tickets are non-transferrable, hence, should be a red flag, but those who dont work in airlines might not be aware about this.

so the thing is he said I’ve friend in Air India and he’s booking it, I mean I have friends working in other companies in the same niche.. so I thought it maybe valid

Ah, fair enough. That sounds legit, coming from a person you know, not a stranger, wouldn’t you agree?

naah man, I asked a lawyer he asked 3k to file a case, I mean really.. to recover 5k I am not gonna spend more money.. so unfortunately no..

I would think it’s more about the principle, and that individual would think twice before scamming anyone else, but I get it, buddy. Stay safe!

How will indigo employee get discount for air india?? And how will he get the tickets in your name??? This is what happens when greed blinds common sense

well.. it was never greed as I didn’t got those tickets for myself, it was for one of my friends travelling back home. also, what he said was for airline employees we just have to pay taxes ,but we also get 2 discounted tickets per month.
