Hi everyone,

I’m reaching out for advice and support. My father was recently a victim of a Digital Arrest scam and lost nearly 1 crore INR across 4 transactions.

Backstory: He had just returned home after a 15-day hospital stay and an unexpected heart surgery. Both my parents live alone, and he was still recovering when this happened. The scammers impersonated law enforcement and manipulated him using fear and urgency.

We’ve filed an FIR and are working with the cybercrime cell, but as we’re going through this process, I’m hoping to connect with others who have experienced similar scams. I’d really appreciate hearing from anyone who has dealt with this kind of situation:

•Were you able to recover any part of the money?
•Did any legal action or bank escalation work for you?
•Any tips or learnings that helped?

This has been incredibly difficult for our family, and we’re trying everything we can. If you’ve been through this—or know someone who has—please share your experience or point me in the right direction. Any advice or guidance would mean a lot.

Lawyer here based in Delhi. It is quite unfortunate that your father had to go through such an ordeal but if you put bullets in the right spots, you’d be able to hunt the perpetrators down.
