March 15, 2025 at 3:56 amI went for legal advice..and the lawyer took me out for a tea first in a nearby stall. When I tried to pay cash he literally forced me to pay via upi. Eventually paid him cash instead. It was clear the tea stall and the lawyer were in on it.So why would something like this happen. And what would entail in future.

March 15, 2025 at 4:13 amUsually the opposite would have been the sign of an issue? (Unless the tea stall was owned by the lawyer of course and the money goes into his account) -

March 15, 2025 at 4:15 amYou mean the lawyer insisted that you pay for the tea by cash ? One reason can be that he is trying to verify/ get your details-

March 15, 2025 at 4:37 amHe insisted me to pay by UPI.. I wanted to pay by cash.
Will Making a upi payment hold me binding to something? Any dispute or issue or force me to pay up more?-

March 15, 2025 at 11:45 amI think the shopkeeper was earning lakhs and avoiding paying GST since they got cash income. The lawyer was trying to get you to pay by UPI so that the transaction comes into the eyes of the govt and they send the shopkeeper a GST notice of recovery.Jokes apart, if the amount that you paid was same that he was asking you to pay online, does it matter?

March 15, 2025 at 2:31 pmProbably tea stall is giving a cut for all the customers the lawyer brings. UPI keeps record and can be tracked. Lawyer already has your name and number. -

March 15, 2025 at 2:46 pmIf youβre worried from a digital fraud perspective – change the UPI ID and deactivate the previous one. Youβll use okicici instead of oksbi or whatever. One canβt get bank details from UPI ID no matter what.if the lawyer thinks he can do anything with a digital trace, he cant. You can say you never met him.
if seem to have something at stake here, hence overthinking it. So the question is, what are you hiding? You worried that heβs informing someone about your visit? Or building info about you? Why are you paranoid?

March 15, 2025 at 4:22 pmNAL but I think the lawyer just stopped you from contributing towards black money. By paying digitally you now have created a trail on that payment making it difficult to evade from tax calculations. Just my opinion n maybe I am wrong. -
