March 11, 2025 at 4:25 amHi, I was recently hired by an Indian company as a website content writer. I’m supposed to receive my first paycheck back in December, but the company hasn’t paid me a dime.I’m not an Indian, I work remotely, and I’m rather unfamiliar with the overall corporate culture in India. I have never had this issue with previous companies I worked with.
I spoke with finance department only to have them telling me that they’ll make the transaction by March 10th (still nothing). I told HR about the matter but they keep telling me to sort it out with my manager. My manger, on the other hand, keeps apologizing.
I keep asking what issue is, only to be told to wait until 10th each month. What legal steps can I possibly take?
Thank you

March 11, 2025 at 4:42 amIf the amount is small (under โน20,000), legal action might not be cost-effective. Send a firm email to HR, finance, and your manager setting a final deadline. If they still donโt pay, call them out on LinkedIn or Glassdoorโpublic pressure often works. If you were hired through a platform, report them. Sadly, legal action from outside India might be tricky, so next time, always ask for an upfront deposit.
