February 9, 2025 at 7:02 amSo I had got a performance bonus of around X lakhs for my performance in FY 2023-2024. However there was a clause that the bonus would be recoverable in case I were to leave the company in FY 2024-2025 on a pro rated basis, which is kinda BS in my opinion.Anyway I left the company after 3 months and joined somewhere else. Now I got a mail from my employer that I need to clear my dues to get clearance on my FnF and get experience letter.
My question is, would I need this experience letter later on? As most companies only see the latest one? Can it create any problems, such as background verification check failing?

February 9, 2025 at 7:14 amExactly, some bs rules that company came up with which I don’t agree with. If it was joining bonus, I might actually give it back without much thought.-

February 9, 2025 at 7:17 amThey’re taking the employees for a ride. Ask them for an explanation as to why should your performance bonus be given back. It was paid because of your past performance not future performance-

February 9, 2025 at 7:17 amRecovering performance bonus is very unethical. Recovery of joining or retention bonus is fine.ยAnyways if the clause was told earlier then you may not have much of a case to fight.
Experience certificate for all previous companies is needed. If you exit without F&F it will cause issues in BGV. So better talk to your previous company and come to an amicable settlement.ย
