Yesterday my dad met with an accident at around 7.45 pm. He doesn’t remember what happened, but the people present on spot told me that he crossed the road and was going slowly forward then 2 boys came and slammed their 2 wheeler and they both fell on my father and ran away. I want to file a police report and want those boys to pay for what they did legally without going to court as it’s a hassle and I’m a student 20M

What information do you have? Reg plate number? 2-wheeler model? Colour? CCTV footage?

              Hey
Just file an FIR and tell the police about it and ask them to file a DAR before the MACT ( Motor accident claims tribunal)
Either their insurance company or they have to pay you the compensation

It’ll require their vehicle number. Which I’m yet to obtain

If you donโ€™t have the vehicle number, they need to obtain it through security cameras. Itโ€™s their job but they wonโ€™t do it unless itโ€™s either a high profile case or you put a lot of pressure through their higher ups or through lawyers.

It does have cctv but at a certain distance. I’ll inquire on the spot after the doctor tells us what to do.

NAL. Was your dad jaywalking? If yes, even he can be fined for obstruction of traffic.

No, he was on his two wheeler. I know my dad very well, he never misses to follow any traffic rules. His speed was around 10-20 as he was just 100 meters away from our home, returning from the office.

You should file FIR in the police station where the accident has happened.
Without criminal case they will be free, if you want to get compensation or justice then file FIR

Look for CCTV there get the footage file an FIR of Hit and Run, otherwise have mutual agreement and have them pay for your injuries

File FIR with police and if they refuse to file ask them the reason
If you feel that CCTV will have the recording in which no. of vehicle is visible then you can offer something to police so that they can work on you case otherwise it gonna be tough.
If number isnโ€™t visible – nothing can be done.
This is daily scene at indian roads of hit and run.
Take care of your father and thank god heโ€™s safe.
