What to do when police demanding bribe for verification (Passport purpose)

Not directly (yet) but this person making us wait for hours and hours.
Any step one can take?

I know if we don’t pay he is not going to process the file. Or he might ask more difficult documents and find minor-minor mistake to correct it.

Please help.

Threat them, like this technique works in my brother case so my brother have S.P mobile number and he tell them SP sahab se baat karlo(talk to the SP sir)after they said don’t worry your work will complete soon. If you didn’t want to any much hassle then settle for 500,700 and leave this country asap.

The going rate is INR 500 or so. You can do things in case you are motivated and have the time (perhaps the right way to go about the issue) but, if you are lazy and don’t want to ruin a few evenings, just grease and get it done.

Use your passport, and leave the country if you can..

I did a Uno reverse and made him wait and went right when he was about to send my application back… fun aside

Police needs a strong reason to reject visa application.

Tag your local police on Twitter and say no update on passport and they will ask for file number in DN.

go to police station & submit required documents. there is time limit to process the file.

after 15 days or so … file RTI asking reason for delay in police verification completion.

govt departments do not like RTIs.

in 2013, i submitted docs & left without paying, it was pending for 1 month.

then i made a query via some official & got passport delivered.
