April 18, 2025 at 9:03 amI work for a company that often makes us work overtime (unpaid) till 2/4 am at night and expects us to be at work next day by 11:30 sharp. They dont take NO for an answer and my manager promotes this kind of an unhealthy environment.
Whenever i take sick leave or work from home due to working so much. He taunts me by saying you are taking too many leaves or work from home. Totally forgetting the par that i was up working till late.
I am going to escalate this matter. However, from the past employees, I have got to know that whoever messes with him. He starts harassing them mentally by giving in more work, not approving work, rejecting leaves, micro aggressive behaviour etc.
I want to know if this thing happens with me, what legal actions can we take against this person?

April 18, 2025 at 2:05 pmPeople keep on mentioning paid overtime, but is most cases there are no such thing, it is mostly applicable only for employees with hourly pay. If you are not paid hourly mostly your employment contract doesn’t have a provision for overtime. It’s up to you to set boundaries, say no to work or complete things in usual work hours.
