        Hello everyone,

I genuinely need advice and guidance regarding a sudden termination from a reputed educational trust in Mumbai.

        Here’s my situation:

        • My probation period itself was for 2 YEARS.

        • I completed those 2 years and continued working for another 3 months while waiting for my confirmation letter.

        • Despite delays from the organization’s side, I continued working sincerely as a full-time employee and handled responsibilities beyond my role.

        • I have records of my work, accurate data, achievements, **appreciation from managers**, and proof of my work ethics and performance.

        • This was NOT a case of poor performance, misconduct, or negligence.

Then suddenly, one afternoon after lunch:

        • I was called by HR and given only two options:

        **Resign quietly**

        **Accept termination**

        • When I refused to resign and asked for fair compensation of 3 months rather than 1 month for removing me without notice, HR said:

“Until you receive written confirmation, you are still on probation and we can terminate you without giving any reason.”

        What hurts the most is:

        • After giving 2+ years of hard work, loyalty, and commitment, I was removed overnight without warning.

        • Multiple employees, including me, had already raised concerns earlier regarding workplace environment issues on mail.

        • Despite that, nothing changed.

        • It genuinely feels like some organizations believe employees cannot question them because they are a “brand.”

        My biggest concern right now:

        • I am suddenly jobless in Mumbai, one of the most expensive cities in India.

        • Hiring season in our industry is slowing down until June 2026.

        • If the organization had informed me earlier that they did not wish to continue with me, I would have respectfully started looking for another opportunity.

        • Instead, I was left blindsided with no preparation, no security, and no respect for the effort I gave over the last 2 years.

Another thing that deeply concerns me:

        • The institute operates under the category of a “Trust.”

        • But when it comes to employee welfare, labour ethics, and accountability, everything suddenly becomes “company policy.”

As an Indian citizen who works honestly and pays taxes in this country, I genuinely want to ask:

        • Can a company continue extending probation through delays in documentation and later use that against an employee?

        • What rights does an employee realistically have in such situations under Indian labour laws?

I have already connected with a lawyer and am documenting everything properly.

I am not sharing the organization’s name right now because I want to handle this legally and responsibly.

What has emotionally affected me the most is the contradiction between:

“**You are one of our best employees.” and “We can terminate you without reason.”**

Because after 2+ years of dedication, appreciation, extra responsibilities, and proven work ethic, hearing both statements from the same organization. Honestly breaks a person mentally and professionally.

        I would genuinely appreciate:

        • Legal advice

        • HR guidance

        • Similar experiences

        • Suggestions on how to move forward

Right now, this is not just about losing a job.

It is about understanding whether employees in India actually have protection against unfair treatment like this.

        Thank you for reading.

          not a legal advice.
2 year of probation itself seems very wrong. But we are all at the mercy of employer. Nothing can be done. Instead of worrying about lost job, suggest you to take a break and search for a job. Life is a long game. 2-4 months lost searching new job will not harm.
You will land in a better place. God bless

Thank you for your kind words.
I understand life moves on and I’ll definitely continue searching for opportunities, but what has affected me deeply is how suddenly everything changed after 2+ years of commitment and appreciation from the same organization.
It honestly makes me wonder how vulnerable employees really are, especially in cities like Mumbai where losing a job overnight impacts everything.

Most people have 2-3 months of probation. This 2 years is a scam. Anytime you see such a long probation expect to be let go at the end of it.
