March 16, 2025 at 1:27 pmIt doesn’t lead to FIR.You tell them someone is blackmailing you with suicide. They will call him/her up, will threaten them and that would be it. This won’t end up in FIR.
If he/she kills him/herself, you can show the chat/conversation with police in investigation that you tried to help him/her, during investigation. Same could be used in court.
In a suicide case, an FIR can be suo moto, on the basis of evidence or can be filed by relatives. No suicide, No FIR.
In fact, YOU can ask for a case of blackmail on the person threatening suicide if you have the evidence. Police will threaten the guy/girl and let him/her go after taking the bribe. Only FIR will be filed if you insist on it and even then, they can convince you to let it go if they got enough money.

March 16, 2025 at 1:16 pmLet’s say the person threatening suicide kills him/herself and names you in a note.Police comes to you and you tell them he was blackmailing you.
Next question will be,”Why didn’t you call me the police?”
Addendum – “Did he/she tell you how he/she will do it”?
If the answer is yes, You helped in suicide.
If the answer is no,” Why should police believe you?”
Any case will take 4 to 5 years to reach a judge. That time will include
1. Fir
2. Investigation
3. Police threatening witnesses/accused to get bribe.
4. Police getting bribes for dead people’s relative to implicate whoever they point to.
5. ChargesheetThat would be the time when you give the evidence in the front of the judge.
Happy running pillar to post.
Or, you can tell it preemptively to police/parents and save all this hassle. Remember to record all your conversations and chats.

March 16, 2025 at 1:00 pmYou are asking on legal advice. If you don’t, preemptively, alert the police and the person kills himself, you will have to prove that you weren’t abetting AND hiding evidence of killing himself.
In court. After 4 or 5 years of the legal procedure.

February 21, 2025 at 3:00 pmThat’s idiotic. You would have to prove that you did that in self defense. To do that, you will have to go through court dates, investigation and interrogation. You would need evidence that needs to be verified.
Even if you succeed in all that, one wrong verdict may change your life. Add up the threats of kin of the dead/hurt goon.
It will become sole focus of your life.
Drive away, record and contact police. Get better dashcam and better car.
If it’s happening frequently, move out of the town, considering it went to dogs.
If it’s Bengaluru, the locals might even praise you for moving out.
Especially if you are a North Indian.
Now the nitty gritty.
You can’t use excessive force in self defense. You can’t drive over someone trying to break your window. You feel threatened? Yes. But can you prove that the person’s intent was to kill you? What’s the evidence? Do remember that the dash cam will be pointed outwards and you will be attacked sideways. Recording a video from mobile won’t work, because it will show clarity of mind, so “spontaneous reaction” to threat becomes “intent to harm”.
Let’s say you drove over them in heat of moment. But you can’t back over their bodies to ensure that they are dead. That’s intent to kill/maim.
The only good news is if you prove that you
1. Didn’t know the victim
2. Didn’t have a motive to kill him/her
3. Did it to save your life. You will be getting something 2 to 10 years max. That’s after you ruin your life for 15 to 20 years, running pillar to post.
So, go ahead. Driver over.
