1) What is the nature of the picture? Does it violate any platform guidelines of Instagram? Is it vulgar in nature?
2) If it is not vulgar, then ask your friend to take down the picture and the matter ends there. Even if the ex sues him for defamation, he may not be liable since the picture is the truth and not a truncated or changed picture. Truth is the best defence against defamation. Secondly he’s blurred the picture so unless the picture was a vulgar one, he may not be in a lot of trouble.
