IThis depends on what layer it is, since you have received funds from your friend’s account I believe he must be in layer 2 or 3 and you come in the next layer, if the matter is serious then you might receive a notice from the same cybercrime where you will have to provide the reason and proof of transaction, in your case you ask your friend to contact the cybercrime and refund the amount and get the NOC, you don’t worry much about the legal charges since the dispute amount is less the worst that can happen is refund in your case.IIf it’s frozen from cybercrime then they will either give a 14 digit complaint number or 4 Digit FIR number. If they didn’t give you then you can send your account number I’ll have a check with them.IJust refund the amount to the same UPI from which you received the amount, also mentioned in remarks as “Refund on mistaken credit UTR “123456827373”
Make sure you return to the same UPI, and not any different UPI which the person will give you.
