May 5, 2026 at 11:37 amHi everyone, I really need guidance.I’m a complainant in a POCSO case in India (Maharashtra). The case has been pending since 2014 (over 11 years) in a Sessions Court. There have been constant adjournments — either the accused’s lawyer doesn’t show up or the police don’t bring the required evidence.
Recently, I’ve also been facing harassment and intimidation. I’ve received threats to withdraw the case, and people have been sent to my house to pressure me to compromise. I’ve filed multiple NC complaints, but no effective action has been taken so far.
I’ve already:
– Filed a complaint on the cybercrime portal because I have been receiving threat texts on Instagram (status: accepted)
– Sent emails to the District Court and High Court registry requesting intervention and a speedy trial
I cannot afford a private lawyer, and I’m concerned that the current prosecution is not actively pushing the case forward.
My questions:
1. How can I get a free or reliable legal aid lawyer who will actively help in my case?
2. Can I approach the High Court for a speedy trial without a private lawyer?
3. What steps can I take if police are not acting despite repeated complaints?
I’m based in Maharashtra (Kalyan/Thane area). Any advice, resources, or contacts would mean a lot.
Thank you.
