January 27, 2025 at 5:12 pmWe live in a co-operative group housing apartments in Faridabad, Haryana. For some time the old ladies have not been able to sit in the ‘favorite spot’ because the tall Neem trees don’t let the sunset sunlight reach them in the evening. Also another family who moved in 2 years ago and started planting his home garden in the common area has been unhappy with the Neem trees because his plants don’t get direct sunlight.
Both parties have made multiple attempts to have the trees cut down. Once we even had to fight the family because the resident was literally up on a neem tree and cutting a branch himself.
Turns out the MCF guys visited today (not sure if this is true), and said they need to cut some branches because they are touching the electricity grid wires. Well, okay. Assuming it is true, fine.
BUT.
They have CLEARLY CUT SO MUCH MORE THAN NECESSARY. TREES THAT DID NOT EVEN HAVE ANY BRANCHES TOUCHING OR NEAR THE WIRES HAVE BEEN CUT DOWN.
I spoke to the people cutting it down and they said that some was for the MCF work, but the society families have also come and requested them to cut extra without telling anyone. What can I do here?
It’s painful to see. It’s so incredibly wrong. 20+ years of strong, beautiful, lush green trees just cut down. These stupid men and women don’t realise that these very trees provided shade in summers, which are increasingly unbearable each year.
I want to slap some legal on the society management so that they know things dont go without consequences. Please help in case anyone has an idea. Thanks a lot in advance.

January 27, 2025 at 5:27 pmYou can inform Forest department. In many states, you require multiple permissions before curing a tree more than 10 years old. Use the red tape to harass the idiots.-

January 27, 2025 at 5:38 pmI’m sorry if the question is a stupid one – Is informing forest department only possible in person at their office? I tried going through forest department Haryana’s website and I can’t seem to find any link to report issues-

PS – Be prepared to live next to an entire temple within a few years where the trees are…

January 28, 2025 at 9:36 amThis is actually a good idea. Paint god paintings on the tree trunks. Hopefully these idiots won’t cut down trees because they will ruin the painting as well in the process. I hope they fear God if not anyone else.

January 28, 2025 at 3:38 amBro, trees will grow again. But donโt make permanent enemies in the society. Co operatives are anyways much smaller societies. Go and talk to them, explain your point of view. And maybe, if it were your house that trees were blocking the light to, you would have wanted trimming as well.-

January 28, 2025 at 5:41 amAll I am saying is itโs not worth making permanent enemies for a temporary situations. The trees will go back in 6-12 months. Your neighbors will live with you forever.-

January 29, 2025 at 3:53 pmTree lopping is 100% ILLEGAL and unwarranted. Not sure how you have the information that they all ‘grow back’. I have personally seen multiple trees drying and never recovering. With rising AQI, I am amazed how everyone is okay with trimming trees in an unscientific manner. You can choose between trees and toxic air and I am sure it’ll be a simple choice.

January 29, 2025 at 3:56 pmLet the ones that are planted die, and plant new ones so that people can cut them too? Your statement is devoid of any logic or intelligence. Lopping of trees is 100% ILLEGAL and MC can take strict action including filing of FIRs. You should motivate People to protect the environment rather then being such an irrational pessimist!

January 29, 2025 at 3:49 pmI am surprised by what you consider ‘normal’. Air pollution is ‘normal’ too now so I am sure you love the toxic air as well. Tree lopping is 100% illegal and is a health hazard for the trees. Read more about it and you’ll probably understand how abnormal it is.-

Pruning is mostly to fruit trees like apple in uttrakhand but neem we trim a lot in winter and it grews back healthy in monsoon.ยIt is quite simple and popular in raj+Haryana where neem is native.
