January 18, 2025 at 4:13 pmSo I own a shop and a person who has taken a hotel on lease takes material from me in udhaar.
My brain is literally f*** d due to this and I am not able to compose sentences.
He is not repaying my bill which is about 2 lakhs from over an year.
Today I called him and told him that if he does not repay it till tomorrow I will take 17 batteries one fridge and 5 TV’s from his hotel .
What should I do I am very tensed due to this, I am the only source of income to my family of 4 and have limited resources.
When my father was alive he used to pay his bills on time but after my father’s demise he started toying with me because I am stilla child -

January 18, 2025 at 4:21 pmThe police complaint will take time and efforts.
Which is bad for me as I am the sole provider of my family and own a shop

January 18, 2025 at 4:43 pmIt will take time but will not let you go in legal trouble. If you go and pick his things, there is a good chance that a case will be filed on you and you will lose your money as well. So, you can decide if you want your money or face legal consequences along with losing your money.

January 18, 2025 at 4:40 pmYou have two options – file a Suit for Recovery, or, if the person runs business as a company, file an insolvency petition under Insolvency & Bankruptcy Code. A third possibility could be, that you convince him to issue bank account cheques and then file a criminal complaint case under the Negotiable Instruments Act.PS: Sorry to disagree with other posts here, but if you make a police complaint as it is, the police will reject it being a civil dispute.

January 18, 2025 at 5:27 pmDon’t take anything nor threaten. It can be charged as threaten, theft and if for some reason something happens to him it will be on you. Like others mentioned, file police case or just hope he will pay someday and focus on your business -

January 18, 2025 at 6:21 pmGet a good legal notice sent to him. That’s the minimum you could do with the least efforts of yours. -

January 18, 2025 at 9:08 pmI don’t know if you have all bills or not..Most Probably I am assuming this runs on trust factor and not on documentation.Talk to him, if not, talk to your shopkeepers association and spread the word in market that he is yet to pay you.
Go to his hotel with 2 to 3 people ask gim to give money or create ruckus in front of hotel and customers.
