USo a local politician(not an MLA or MP but a powerful party post holder) is threatening me after his car rammed my car. My brother’s friend was driving that my car and taking a turn, while he was driving dangerously with his family, so he rammed his car into my car. Now my brother called me and when I reached I saw about 20-25 goons surrounding my brother and his two friends while police were standing in the corner. Now to diffuse the situation, I told that guy we would pay for the damages which were estimated to be of 2 lakh rupees (although it was his fault) now the estimate is coming of a much higher amount. Now my brother’s friend is unable to pay so much money! So now he is threatening me with consequences. The car that the politician was driving had his insurance expired 4 years ago, it was on someone else’s name also he was coming from the wrong side.
I genuinely want to know what can be done here? Since police will be supporting him, as he is from the party whose government is in the state. Also he is a goon. I don’t have such media contacts or any other approach that I can use to pacify him. I am feeling anxious and suicidal as I am imagining the scenarios where he would be harassing me and my family. While also thinking how weak we are as common people that we have to be bowing down in front of such goons, without being at any fault we are apologizing and are scared.
Update: To gather evidence, I got the details of the guy whose name that car was, he was a famous car dealer from a nearby town. On meeting him he told me that this goon hasn’t paid the full amount of that car yet, hence the name hasn’t been transferred to that goons name. However his men have threatened him to stay silent, because of which he hasn’t been asking for his money and is scared to come forward, I urged him to come forward, yet he is scared and doesn’t want to come forward.
