CHi everyone,
I was the victim of a cyber scam at X place, even though I live in Y. I filed a complaint through the official Indian cyber portal, and the case was assigned to my nearest police station. Despite submitting all the requested documents, two months have passed without progress. The police officer stopped replying on WhatsApp, so I took a screenshot of our chat and filed a complaint on CPGrams. This case was again assigned to my nearest police station—this time because I had attached the chat screenshot of the officer, the officer and his colleagues were furious and asked me to come to the police station.
When I arrived, they forced me to write an application stating that the incident occurred at X place and that I wanted to close the complaint here and redirect it to where the incident actually took place. Now they are calling me to close the complaint on CPGrams because it appears an OTP is required, which will be sent to my device. They keep saying, “Ask any lawyer; you have to file the complaint where the incident occurred, not where you live.”
Is this correct? Should I close the complaint?
