I was freelancing with a digital media agency in Mumbai, handling social media content calendars, post copies, and graphics for its clients. I always followed all procedures like obtaining client approvals on everything and then scheduling content from their respective accounts as agreed.

However, due to a personal disagreement, we parted ways professionally last month. The agency then refused to pay me for the work delivered in January, despite my producing all client approvals, stating that I had to “pay for the consequences.” They later claimed they would check with the client before releasing payment, which was absurd since the approvals were already in writing.

Behind my back, they misled the clients. After much back and forth, they finally paid for two clients, both longstanding ones who valued my work and couldnโ€™t be turned against me. However, they refused to pay for a newer client, claiming that the clientโ€™s approval was a “mistake.”

While the amount in question is only INR 6,000, it still represents the time and effort I invested. Since there was no formal legal contract, only invoices, Iโ€™m unsure how to proceed. I don’t have many resources to pursue legal action, but I also donโ€™t want to let this go.

Itโ€™s been a month now. What are my options? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I hope you have all the proof for delivery, and the clients approval for the same. Please archive all the posts or take screenshots atleast of all posts that have been published. Sorry you are dealing with this.

I have the content calendar that I made in my google drive and the posts are on the clients’ accounts. I don’t think they can be deleted since the agency does not have that kind of authority to remove an entire month’s posts from the clients’ accounts. I have all the approvals on email and screenshots of the WhatsApp conversation with the clients as well.
