February 24, 2025 at 8:47 pmSo this incident I heard from my fatherMy great grandfather had 70-80 bigha land in up near ayodhya in gonda Up
But during Indira Gandhi was prime minister of India she passed a law that restricted a person who had more than a certain amount of land will not be allowed to keep it all as government will pay them compensation for extra land and give it to poor farmers to do farming on it
So a promissory note or letter or a hundi in hindi has to be made for compensation
And my great grandfather had almost 50-60 hundi
But the nearest tehsil at that time from our village was 22km awaySo one day he walked 22km to get his compensation but officers didn’t gave compensation or his name was not announced that day don’t know the exact details
He became angry and after coming home he burned all the promissory notes in anger and said I will only earn by farming through hard work I don’t need money from government
But my great grandmother was terrified by this incident as to how we will live now without our land
Time passed and my great grandfather passed away and now my grandpa has to live through poverty because a flood came which destroyed all the crops
Although story is much more longer and complex but these details are enough I think
So is there a single % chance that there is still a record on government about these promissory notes

February 24, 2025 at 9:18 pmBro you are indirectly making allegations on my ancestors
My grandpa told me that his father wanted to see all his lands everyday he wakes up in morning infront of his eyes so he bought all the land near the house
And you will be shocked to believe that after my grandpa came to Delhi to make money all the gas LPG cylinder were distributed by him and some other people throughout in whole delhi-

February 24, 2025 at 9:19 pm(I apologize in advance, and do know that I am not trying to make fun of you.)This sounds like the story almost every Indian kid has heard!
It almost always starts with any of the elders saying,
‘hamare Baap dada/purvajo ke paas toh 100 bigha zameen thi, chandi ke sikke hote the…………’And ends with,
‘………… sab chala gaya abhi kuch nahi bacha’Reminding you of this story because, there is absolutely no chance of being able to even identify, let alone try to claim back that land.
Just think of this story, blame your luck and move on.
All the best!

February 25, 2025 at 12:42 amThis land should be donated to poor farmers atlest most of it. There ain’t no way OPs grandfather “worked hard” for it. Maybe some senior official in British Raj that helped colonized and killed Indians. -

February 25, 2025 at 9:41 amAll these stories are a lot of time made up by elders to justify their own human existence and hard work.Have heard a lot of similar stories for partition as well where people said we left 1000 gaj houses and everything.
Though partition was painful, but not everyone was prosperous with big houses and full of jewellary. A lot made up stories to justify the mediocrity in life.
