TLDR : Received stuck for months passport after RTI

I filled my passport application 7 months back , in police verification ,didn’t payed a bribe ,and person said ‘Need to apply from birth location,might be a problem ‘ ,then it goes stuck for 3 months .

RPO sents a notice and even the Officer there says the Notice reason is stupid and to anyway write a short clarification letter . This happens ,and it again gets stuck for 3-4 months

I file an RTI online ,in 4 hrs ,I receive a response that it’s in printing process . I received it within 2 days.

I dont know, if it’s the fear of RTI or if RPO too was expecting bribe as it got stuck twice

Think of government like a operating system and rti like a activity monitor , you can see where exactly a process is stuck in.

Once you find a program stalling you can inform the parent program or the auditing program and that is something a program does not want.

Oh yes. I filed a bank complaint, pending with RBI for four months having no action. Filed an RTI and got it processed within a week. You can do it sitting at home, paying mere Rs. 10

The thing is after your clarification letter they might have conducted police verification at your birth place and since that thing is done manually that’s why it got stuck and no one paid attention.
Since you filled an rti they saw your application and processed it.

My pasport is also stuck from 3 months, can you help me file an RTI? Please man I’m seriously struggling to get my passport done.

Those police fuckers took 600 bribe, still my passport is stuck on ‘Pending for physical verification’ from 1 Month after PV

In passport application portal , there’s a fill feedback/grievance section , there you need to fill your file/application no , issue category and description .

They then responded to me by email .

Rti for passport related issues works. Similar happened to me more than 10 years ago. One rti and then I was asked to come to commissioners office and 2 days later passport in hand.

It’s frustrating when passport applications get delayed like this. [Filing an RTI ](https://cc.rti.link/arf)often helps because it pushes authorities to respond. If delays continue or you’re unsure about the reasons, you can also file a First Appeal under the RTI Act for better clarity. Stay persistent, and good luck!

Can you please provide why PRO said to apply from the Birth location and also can you write something about notice received. as this post looks extremely generic and doesn’t provide anything meaningful about the situation

Not the RPO ,the police guy involved in verification said that .

RPO was very swift , 5 mins work ,he just said that ‘write a letter that ‘you are staying in location and show address proof like adhaar ‘
