In 2003, land was acquired by the Government of Assam for the construction of Sarusajai Stadium. The affected parties have since been pursuing alternative land allotment or compensation through legal channels.**📅 Timeline of Legal Developments:**
* **2004:** Gauhati High Court directed the Deputy Commissioner (Kamrup) to allot alternative land.
* **2007:** 32 bighas identified in Numalijalah as compensation.
* **2016:** High Court ordered finalization of the allotment within three months.
* **2018:** A four-member committee recommended allotting the same 32 bighas.**📉 Current Status (as of 2025):**
* The proposed 32 bighas was *reduced* to 21 bighas 4 kathas 8.2 lechas.
* Even this reduced land was allotted to another party.
* The court has directed the Deputy Commissioner to identify *new* land.
* **No fresh allotment has been made to date.****📜 Recent Court Updates :**
* **24 Jan 2025:** Government requested 2 weeks to identify land.
* **17 Feb 2025:** Additional 3 weeks requested.
