        **Assam Land Allotment Dispute – 20+ Years and Still No Resolution**

        📍 **Background:**
        In 2003, land was acquired by the Government of Assam for the construction of Sarusajai Stadium. The affected parties have since been pursuing alternative land allotment or compensation through legal channels.

        **📅 Timeline of Legal Developments:**

        * **2004:** Gauhati High Court directed the Deputy Commissioner (Kamrup) to allot alternative land.
        * **2007:** 32 bighas identified in Numalijalah as compensation.
        * **2016:** High Court ordered finalization of the allotment within three months.
        * **2018:** A four-member committee recommended allotting the same 32 bighas.

        **📉 Current Status (as of 2025):**

        * The proposed 32 bighas was *reduced* to 21 bighas 4 kathas 8.2 lechas.
        * Even this reduced land was allotted to another party.
        * The court has directed the Deputy Commissioner to identify *new* land.
        * **No fresh allotment has been made to date.**

        **📜 Recent Court Updates :**

        * **24 Jan 2025:** Government requested 2 weeks to identify land.
        * **17 Feb 2025:** Additional 3 weeks requested.
        * **Next Hearing:** 10 March 2025.

        **⚖️ Conclusion:**
        Despite over two decades of litigation and repeated court directions, the land allotment is still pending. The matter remains unresolved before the Deputy Commissioner, Kamrup.
