March 31, 2025 at 10:46 amI have an ongoing loan with Axis Bank and due to some issue with auto debit, the payment was delayed by 4-5 days and I got contacted by random collection agents from their personal WhatsApp numbers. They revealed my address, my work address, loan account number and shared a payment UPI ID unique to my account. Now the conversation with these stooges was extremely weird & unprofessional and it has undertones of threats. Now I reached out to Axis Bank to complain about this and they kept stressing that loan account is regular, no overdue so no issue and the numbers donโt belong to them. This is impossible.
Now I reached out to RBI Ombudsman and they asked the bank to respond. The bank again reiterated that the numbers donโt belong to them. To which I contested that if the numbers are not related to Axis Bank, how did they get access to my data and my unique payment link. I asked what action will bank take against the numbers and what about the privacy of my data? How can it be just leaked?
Axis has responded that they have taken action against the numberโs and shared an online complaint which is only says the numbers donโt belong their agency. Which is an eye wash.
Now that Axis has confessed that the data indeed is leaked and they cannot say itโs not from the bank because of the loan account number, amount, the payment link, what are my next options? RBI ombudsman is yet to respond on the banks second response.
