March 5, 2025 at 3:57 pmHey everyone,I’m a student, and I’m really stressed about something that happened recently. I need some advice.
On March 3rd, my friend withdrew ₹8,000 from Stake (a gambling platform), but since he couldn’t use his own account, he asked me to receive the money in my Kotak 811 account. I send him the money via UPI.
Today, March 5th, my account got frozen. I had ₹1,200 of my own money in the account, which is now stuck too. I immediately contacted Kotak customer care, and they told me there was a transaction mismatch and that their monitoring team flagged my account.
They sent me a link to fill out a form asking about my occupation and annual income (I mentioned I’m a student). The form also asked if I use my account for business purposes — I clearly said no since it’s just for personal use.
When I asked which transaction caused the issue, they said two bank executives will visit me to discuss it.
I’m really anxious. Could this lead to any legal issues? I wasn’t gambling myself — I just helped my friend by letting him withdraw the money to my account.
Has anyone experienced something similar? What should I expect when the bank executives come? Any advice on how to handle this situation would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks in advance!
