SHello everyone,
I am facing a serious issue with Boom11 (similar to Dream11), an online gaming platform, and I need legal guidance on what actions I can take.
Issue Summary:
1. My Boom11 account has been deactivated multiple times without any valid reason. They falsely claim that a cybercrime complaint was filed against me. My account has been in a deactivated state for over two weeks, with ₹65 lakhs still in my wallet.
2. Boom11 is withholding ₹40 lakhs, labeling it as a suspicious amount. Despite multiple requests, they have failed to provide any evidence that I have withdrawn extra money illegally or caused even ₹10 lakhs in financial loss to them.
3. They initially accused me of suspicious activity, but now they claim that the ₹40 lakhs will be used for TDS deductions—despite the fact that Boom11 has advertised itself as TDS-free (meaning the company was supposed to bear the tax). They haven’t paid a single penny in TDS in the last financial year.
4. I suspect fraudulent practices on their platform, including the use of bots in the leaderboard to manipulate prize distributions (such as cars, bikes, and other freebies).
How can I legally get my account reactivated and recover my funds?
Can I report them for misleading users regarding TDS policies and unfair practices?
If anyone has faced a similar issue or knows the best legal course of action, please share your advice.

SSerious – how much have you deposited and withdrawn over time? You can put rough numbers if you want. Because this is a very common tactic in scams to win trust and convince the mark to put in a large sum of money.

SYes, but how much have you deposited vs withdrawn?
Showing you’ve “won” a lot of money or had insane “gains” with your trading strategy in stocks/crypto is all part of the elaborate scam.
Expect being asked to pay a certain amount of money to unlock all your frozen winnings.

USomething is fishy. OP claims that he never expected they will freeze his account yet in the opening post, he himself written there were multiple instances of freezing in past.

This seems elaborate scam by fraud company. are you sure Boom11 is legit betting company?
I have read exactly similar few stories on reddit where their gambling account is frozen and money withheld on this same subreddit but instead of boom11. It was different company

SActually it’s not a betting company, it’s a fantasy application similar to Dream11 and which is legal in india.Boom11 have their registration with FIFS. I don’t know how can i reclaim my account.

SThere definitely is a cyber crime complaint against his account. The bank’s KYC AML along with other LEAs have been flagging random UPI or other transactions in the bank accounts. As a banker, I have seen periodic complaints from time to time of such nature, with the cases seeing a considerable increase in number over the past year.

SBro I don’t know on what basis you are imposing that statement, but still let me explain how this works. If i used any betting apps then in that case transaction made through my account aren’t legal using any random upi’s and bank account, they can froze my account for the lifetime.
But it’s fantasy, here withdrawals are made by a company account which is completey legal, none has the right to freeze thr account neither have a cyber complaint. Cyber complaint for what? I haven’t tried hacking the application or fixing the matches n all.

SThere is nothing like TDS free. Deduction of TDS is mandatory and if someone pays any amount to the government on your behalf, the amount will be treated as income in your hands.
For the rest of your claims , without the details of the correspondence between you and the platform no one can express an opinion.
To allege wrongdoing by anyone you must be able to prove that it is not an unreasonable conclusion based on the facts in your possession as on the date of the accusation.
Finally, residents of some states cannot participate in these platforms . If you are a resident of any of these states you’re out of luck.

SI’m from Mumbai, where fantasy gaming is legal. Boom11 has consistently advertised that TDS would be paid by the company, from the start till today. Even in a voice call with the CEO, he confirmed the same. However, they have not paid TDS on my behalf, even for the last financial year.
Now, Boom11 has sent me an email, expecting me to acknowledge that ₹40 lakhs withheld by them is a “suspicious amount,” which they later claim will be considered as TDS, how both statements can be valid at the same time.
I never intended to get into a legal battle, but their unjustified actions are forcing me to consider it. Any suggestions would be appreciated, thanks!

MOk first this topic is not for reddit.
This is some serious legal thing no one can clearly advice you on this.
My suggest to you is collect all your proof and go to a really good lawyer who is experienced in this type of things.
Heck to all the things if their is a case this might be a good lifetime chance to get a bit rich.

CYes you have the chances to get your money back. But not as easy a clicking in online gamings.
You have to go through 10-30 Physicall appearance in civil courts, and have to pay for at least two good lawyers ( Don’t take a single lawyer – its my personal advice).
You may get your money in around 3-4 years. -

SRelax guys, I don’t have accessibility to my account so I can’t put up the exact figures here. I have been playing on this platform over 2 years and have withdrawn multiple times. Regarding deposit, i have made that money by playing and winning.

SI am sorry for your loss. I think you need therapy more than you need legal advice.
The legal advice has always been very clear on such matters. You got swayed, hooked and looted by a fantasy scam app. Yet, you are unable to smell the coffee, read the writing on the wall and address the big white elephant in the room. Therapy is the way forward, really.

II am sorry but if this is the money you have won in fantasy betting, how is it your “hard earned money”? As for whatever initial amount you deposited, losing that is a risk you take the moment you decide to gamble so you cant really complain about that,atleast legally.

SBro play by yourself, you will realise how it is hard earned. Agreed to the fact fantasy involves luck but only till some extent. Other than that you requires to have good experience about the players, analysis and prepared for the deadline in early morning or late nights. Have to constantly check scorecards, that can help you update your team, if anything happens in early stage.

CDude, you need to file a criminal complaint and get it converted to FIR. On the civil side, check the terms and conditions while signing up, if it has arbitration clause, show it to a lawyer, he will guide you further. Anyway, meet a lawyer with all documents/email/ terms and conditions for a way forward.
Advising on civil remedy can be tricky. You can try remedy under consumer protection act as well, as you are their customer and it’s a deficiency in service by blocking your account for BS reasons.

MI’m pretty sure those are not legal/registered companies so all you can do is make a Cybercrime complaint. And in most cases, these sites are operated from outside India so honestly nothing can be done. Like I said earlier, I hope you learned your lesson and not make these kinds of mistakes again.
