If bride/woman herself is demanding and harassing her parents for more dowry than which was already given, what cases can be filed against her? Is a restraining order sufficient? The man here is manipulative and doesn’t outright communicate his intentions, but the woman is so easily influenced that she harasses parents to give dowry and extra property share from self acquired property of parents. Also, there is no harassment b/w the man and woman. Its her who harasses her own parents for more property and dowry.

It’s her right the parents should legally give her once and for all. If they don’t want to give then it’s not an issue, your parents can file a mental harassment case against her. If they are old aged then they are under an old age protection act. And if she still doesn’t understand give her a tight slap.

How is it her right? This is self acquired property of her parents. She may claim a right on ancestral property only.

There is nothing as ‘her right’. The parents should just disown that greedy girl.

You sound very entitled! A parentโ€™s property/assets etc is NEVER a childโ€™s RIGHT. Definitely not when the parents are alive. Itโ€™s different if they pass without a will etc.

Anything our parents give us is a privilege. NEVER our right as their kids.

It’s not decided by me, it’s a decision made by the Madras court that the daughters are entitled to receive their father’s property just like their son. So I think they are trying to harass the old couple based on this verdict. Read my full statement and then use your emotions wisely. It’s a child’s right as per the law of India and those same rights protect the old age couples. Please keep your morals and values in the moral values subreddit because legal cases are run on the basis of written laws, past verdicts and practical reasons. The parents are getting harassed because of their emotions and attachments towards their daughter. If they want they can disown her by taking out a news ad and sending her a legal notice. These are all legal precautions they can take but remember this is not a permanent solution. Next time before judging anyone be aware or provide solutions before writing your comments with a failed emotional state.

I agree that daughters are entitled to receive a share of their fatherโ€™s property. I am a woman myself. The issue that I have is that no child should feel entitled or demand anything from their parents while they are alive.

There is no law that states that fathers must dissolve assets and give them to the children while they are alive. Absolutely none.

Also next time use paragraphs. Itโ€™s common decency.

If you’re not going to ask your parents then who else? I didn’t say the father needs to dissolve, you read my comments again but you can’t since you’re so entitled, rather than collecting or giving information your brain is worrying about me not writing in paragraphs but let me tell you, I’m not bound to move the way you want and you cannot harass me like this in the comments. It will be better if you talk to the father and give your fake sympathetic and moral values gyaan to them and let those psychopaths harass them.
