I’m a developer building a SaaS product to help Indian companies (startups to enterprises) comply with the Digital Personal Data Protection Act (DPDPA) and related upcoming regulations.

I come from a purely technical background, no legal or compliance experience. Before I build the wrong thing, I want to talk to people who actually deal with this on the ground. I’ve contacted some lawyers regarding this but they have no idea what DPDPA is. This is the only way to know more.

Some things I’m trying to understand:

        1. What does day-to-day compliance look like? What are companies currently doing manually that could be automated?
        2. What are the biggest pain points? Consent management? Data mapping? Breach reporting? Vendor audits?
        3. What features would actually matter? Not asking you to design my product โ€” just want to know what problems hurt the most.
        4. Are there existing tools? Indian or international tools that companies are already using? What’s missing in them?
        5. Who owns compliance in companies? Legal team? CTO? HR? Trying to understand who my actual user is.
        6. Anything specific to DPDPA that makes it different from GDPR tools that already exist?
        7. If am building something like this where should I start and what are the legal side of that.

If you’re a compliance officer, legal counsel, DPO, or work at a company actively preparing for DPDPA, I’d love to hear from you. Happy to DM if you prefer.

Not selling anything. Just trying to build something actually useful.
