April 28, 2025 at 8:12 pmI read that government is destroying houses of many suspected terrorists in Kashmir. Lets keep aside the fact that their involvement in the terror attack in pahalgam is suspected and not confirmed.Even if government knows that a particular terrorist is indeed involved in the attack – is it legally allowed for government to destroy homes of their family members without court orders? And can these family members demand compensation from supreme court?
I believe Supreme Court had issued guidelines to prevent such bulldozer justice in the country recently.

OP
April 28, 2025 at 8:21 pmI have a similar question about not giving government jobs even to extended relatives of terrorists. That sounds incredulous – I have really no idea of what my own cousins are upto, and donβt even know names of everyone (though i am not from kashmir so it is irrelevant for me). And most of us have no control over their life choices. How is this legal to punish extended relatives of a terrorist?-

April 29, 2025 at 12:42 amIt is definitely not legal.Legally people are only liable for their own crimes.Vicarious liability doesn’t apply here in this particular case.
