March 31, 2025 at 6:39 pmI was involved in an incident at my gym. A person (who also works as a gym trainer) physically grabbed my shirt and pushed me during a dispute over gym equipment. This same person had previously harassed me about using certain machines.I reported it to gym management, but they dismissed my complaint, stating that he is a **βseniorβ** and I should respect him. The gym has **no CCTV,** but **two neutral witnesses** were present and are willing to provide statements.
My questions:
1. Can I file an **FIR online,** or do I need to visit a police station?
2. Will filing an FIR cost me any money?
3. Since my witnesses are strangers, can I **record their statements** (audio/video) and use them as evidence?
4. Would this be considered **assault** under Indian law, and what legal consequences could he face?
I want to ensure this behavior is addressed properly. Any legal advice or guidance would be greatly appreciated.

March 31, 2025 at 7:17 pmPractical advice is legally and financially beneficial in this case, so even if you go to file an FIR police will try to settle this amicably. Worst case scenario, if you still insist they might file one against you too; you took part in the dispute & physical altercation that resulted from it – if I’m not wrong. It’s a ping pong situation tbh.
