March 21, 2025 at 10:51 amHow do I market/advertise/promote this? I hope I won’t be caught up in legal trouble or public outrage due on discriminatory grounds. I see all the time how female candidates are given concessions in exam fee and cut-off concessions and a lot more.I want to do this to improve male representation in higher-ed.

March 21, 2025 at 11:59 amActively discriminating on the basis of gender can invite civil suits against you. But it also depends on what services you offer.Less Exam fees and cut off concessions are made based on laws enacted in the country, which delegate powers to certain bodies to act autonomously.
If you’re going to offer educational services and actively discriminate on the basis of gender, you can be sued, whether you win or not depends on your lawyer.

March 21, 2025 at 12:16 pmOh, okay. But I do remember seeing an ad on Instagram where a therapist was offering services ONLY for married women, to cope with their in-laws and stuff. My intent is similar, not to discriminate, but empower male students to improve their representation in higher education.
How can I promote it, then? If discounts is a problem, I’m fine with tutoring just male students instead of providing them a special concession.
PS: Idk who’s downvoting you.

March 21, 2025 at 12:32 pmIt’s discriminatory whether you offer a male only tutoring service or provide discounts to male students. Goes against the constitution so I wouldn’t talk about it openly or advertise it as such if I were you.Concessions for women and minorities are specifically mentioned as exceptions to the “no discrimination” rule in the constitution. That’s why it’s legal to do so.

March 21, 2025 at 12:37 pmI understand your points but please help me find a way.As I’ve mentioned, my aim is to empower, not discriminate. And as someone who identifies with MRA, I think men don’t have it easy these days. Also, I feel it’s tyrannical that I have to agree with certain political ideas and abide with them, which I (and a lot of people) disagree with.

March 21, 2025 at 2:16 pmYeah, but that’s how the law is right now. And this sub is called legal advice, not illegal advice, so discussing ways of actively dodging the law doesn’t make sense in this sub.And with respect to ground realities, male children are still mainly given preferential treatment when it comes to education, higher education, at pretty much every cross section of income. Is there any particular aspect of education you feel that men are falling behind in ?
I guess you can just put out adverts for tutoring and respond only to men. It’s still discrimination, but it would be difficult to prove because it’s done on a one to one basis. Just don’t put in writing or otherwise explicitly state that you’re intending to exclude women from a space.
