April 27, 2026 at 4:22 pmMy maternal grandfather passed away, and his ancestral property was passed on to (there was no will) his 4 children: 2 sons (my uncles), 2 daughters (my aunt and my mother)– After his death, my grandmother and uncles pressured my mom and aunt into signing the property docs
– They were **not clearly told what they were signing**, and we **don’t even have copies** of those documents
– This happened about **8 years ago**.**Current situation:**
* My grandmother has now also passed away
* My uncles have cut off contact with my mom and aunt
* They’re not allowing them into my grandfather’s house anymore
* The property’s value has increased significantly (around 10x)
* My uncles are fully dependent on this ancestral property and have no other incomeMy mom feels she was **manipulated/blackmailed and unaware of her legal rights** when she signed those papers.
* Is there any legal way for my mom (and aunt) to **reclaim their share** of the ancestral property?
* Does the fact that it’s been ~8 years affect her chances?
* Does coercion/misrepresentation make those documents invalid under Indian law?
* What kind of lawyer/specialist should we consult for this?Any guidance or similar experiences would really really help. Thanks in advance 🙏
