May 21, 2026 at 11:27 amI am a student under Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU) and need guidance regarding an ongoing court matter related to βcarry-onβ admissions.Timeline:
1. In August 2025, SPPU announced the carry-on policy and many students, including us, took provisional admissions to the next academic year based on that policy.
2. Later, one student filed a petition challenging the carry-on policy, after which the court observed that carry-on admissions should not be allowed.
3. Multiple hearings have happened since then, but there is still no final outcome. The next hearing is scheduled on 12th June 2026.
Important point:
Recently, a few students filed an IA (Intervention Application / Interim Application) in the same matter seeking permission to appear for exams. The court has allowed only those students to fill exam forms and appear for exams.
However, many of us are in the exact same situation and are otherwise eligible to continue to the respective years and sit for exams, but SPPU is not allowing us to fill the exam forms because we were not part of that IA.
My questions are:
1. Can similarly situated students file a separate IA in the same matter seeking identical relief?
2. Approximately what would be:
– Court filing fees
– Lawyer fees in Bombay High Court for such an IA
3. Is it possible to request urgent circulation/hearing considering exam forms and exams are time-sensitive?
4. Would it be better to file individually or as a group of affected students?
5. Since relief has already been granted to similarly placed students, does that improve our chances of getting permission to appear for exams as well?
I am only looking for procedural/legal guidance at this stage. Thank you.
