Can someone get the invested money back if the investment company is closed?

So my mom and her friends used to invest some money on a monthly basis to a company called prime reality
But the company never returned the money and is now closed. Many people lost money to that company.(It happened 7-8 years ago). Is there something that can be done?

Ideally the assets of the company would be sold and the remainder would be returned to the investors, was any complaint made at the relevant time?

There was a case filled on them few years back but it went nowhere.
