UAround 2 weeks back I had a car accident. 3 guys on a scooty were speeding and were drunk (it also showed up on the blood reports but the driver apparently wasn’t drunk). They rammed into my car and got heavily injured themselves and there was a lot of damage caused to my car as well. I called the police and went to the police station , filed the report and did all the necessary things.
Now the issue is , the other party doesn’t wanna take the issue to the court , infact , they haven’t even contacted the police even once. Now my car is stuck in the police station. I got in contact with a lawyer and he said he’s gonna get a court order and get my car released but he’s demanding 20k for this procedure.
What can I do in this scenario? Should I just pay this money to the lawyer and get the work done?

PWhen our car was impounded after a minor accident, we had to pay a fine at the traffic court to release our car. It was a nominal fine from what I remember. Talk to one of the police officers at the station, they will guide you through the process and where to go. I think the lawyer is fleecing you.
