Car dealership lost my number plate — car still stuck at stockyard

Bought a car through company benefits. It’s been sitting at the dealer’s stockyard for 2 weeks now. Registration was done on 4th May and I got my reg number the same day, but the physical plate never arrived. After a lot of follow-up, the dealership finally admitted the number plate never reached them, it was lost in transit. I have not taken delivery of the car yet.

What can be the consequences?
