April 30, 2026 at 1:28 pmHi all,Iβm a US citizen (Indian origin). I invested many years ago in a company formed by my friends. The founder ceo was removed by other position holders, and one of them became the new CEO. While this ouster was in progress there were a lot of emails between various investors (there were early investors like myself, angel investors etc). The emails were a bit heated, with the main plea being to not remove the founder ceo as he was of value to company.
Since then Iβve been getting veiled and unveiled threats from the new ceo about criminal defamation against myself and the US based company I work for. I have simply ignored the messages but he keeps sending them every couple of months.
He claims his legal team deems there is a case here they can win, and that he wants to speak to me before they proceed. I am confident his goal is to get me to be scared and sell my investor shares at a discount.
His scare tactics are essentially that he will file a criminal defamation case, and that he will name my US MNC as a defendant as well (which makes no sense to me as I donβt know what they have to do with anything).
Is any of this sensible on his end? Or are these scare tactics to get me to come to the table?
– I am not actually scared, merely curious as to what actual damage he can do here?
– Should I lawyer up and send him a notice to stop bothering/threatening me?
