January 24, 2025 at 5:26 amI dropped out of college in my second year while receiving the Maha DBT scholarship under the SC category (Post-Matric Tuition Fee and Examination Fee – Freeship). The scholarship funds were directly credited to the college’s bank account by the government. Now, the college is making the following demands:
1. **Repayment of the scholarship money** that they received from the government for my two years of study.
2. **Payment of the full 4-year course fees**, even though I only studied for two years.# My Questions:
* Is it legally valid for the college to make these demands?
* Can a college require students to repay scholarship money received directly from the government?
* Is it fair or lawful to ask for fees for the full course despite me only attending for two years?I’m feeling stuck and unsure of how to handle this. Based on my knowledge, the government doesn’t require students to return scholarship money as it is transferred directly to the college.
Any guidance on what steps I should take next would be greatly appreciated.

January 24, 2025 at 6:03 amMy course is for four years, and the college receives scholarship money for each semester. They have already received funds for four semesters, yet they are now asking me to pay the fees for all upcoming semesters. Additionally, they are withholding my documents, including my 10th and 12th marksheets, school leaving certificate, and caste certificate. I am even willing to repay the scholarship money I received, but not for all remaining semester, I need my documents returned.

January 24, 2025 at 8:01 amIt’s illegal but almost every college follow this practice.Apply for duplicate caste certificate, 10,12 TC, marksheet , TC.
You first need to visit nearest police station in your town and register complaint about losing document bag in auto. Take acknowledgement number/receipt.
Give one advertisement in local paper by visiting office which cost 300-400 Rs.
Then take few xerox copies of this ad and acknowledgement receipt and apply for duplicate documents. It may cost 10-15k for all documents.

January 24, 2025 at 11:46 amYou won’t get duplicate original copies if you don’t file complaint. It’s perfectly fine. I needed duplicate TC so I did same.
Just check ad section of local news paper, you will daily multiple ads of losing documents. It’s perfectly fine.
Filing police complaint is mandatory otherwise you won’t receive any other duplicate document.
